Baker & Taylor has gone out of business

Baker & Taylor was one of the top book distributors for public libraries. The Dade County Library has subscribed to their book leasing program for many years. It allowed the library to get 25 of the most current and popular books every month. The library was able to keep 1 book for every 5 books we returned to Baker & Taylor. This helped keep our collection current and relevant. Unfortunately, Baker & Taylor went out of business, so we are looking for other options to fill the role of getting the most current and buzz worthy books.

One addition we have added is Libby! This will provide up-to-date eBooks and eAudiobooks for our patrons. It also has the added benefit of working 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We will also be increasing our Large Print subscriptions, so we will get even more of the most popular titles in Large Print.

Lastly, I will be watching for hot new titles and just ordering them myself. Our Baker & Taylor subscription had the benefit of a curated collection without much effort on our part. Now, we will just have to do the work ourselves.

I want all of our patrons to know that despite the closure of Baker & Taylor, we at the Dade County Library are committed to providing the most current and popular titles for our patrons.
